Dr. Tom Moonen attended the University of British Columbia for his undergraduate sciences and dental degree (DMD). He then practiced dentistry for 2 years in Vancouver. Dr. Moonen returned to school to pursue his Graduate Orthodontic Degree (MClD) at the University of Western Ontario. He returned home to Vancouver where he has been practicing on the North Shore since 1991. He opened his practice in Westview in 1997. Dr. Moonen grew up in Vancouver, but his family moved to Vancouver Island during his final years in high school. He enjoys spending time with his wife, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra^’s conductor, and their two sons, Matthew and Benjamin. The family enjoys skiing and traveling. Dr. Moonen is a clinical assistant professor at the University of B.C. and has taught there for over a decade. He is the past-president of the B.C. Society of Orthodontists and a member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontics and Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics. He is also a member of the Seattle Study Club which focuses on interdisciplinary dentistry and has lectured to local and international audiences.
