Dr. Charlene T. Loh grew up observing her parents’ love of dentistry and their incredible ability to impact people’s health and lives. She grew up in Richmond, BC, where she attended Richmond Christian School and graduated from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Richmond High School. After studying pharmaceutical sciences at the University of British Columbia, she went on to start her own path to a career in dentistry, earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at UBC. During dental school, Dr. Charlene found that she particularly loved working with her orthodontic patients, helping kids grow and develop well, and giving them smiles they were proud of. She decided to pursue advanced training to become a certified specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, and completed a residency and Master of Science degree at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Charlene has experience using Invisalign, 3-D imaging, Temporary Anchorage Devices, soft tissue lasers, and accelerated tooth movement techniques. She has treated cases involving both early interceptive and comprehensive treatment, growth modification, impacted teeth, orthognathic surgery, craniofacial anomalies, and preparation for restorative dentistry.
When she is not seeing patients in clinic, Dr. Loh enjoys traveling around the world, playing violin and piano, and dabbling in various forms of art such as painting and dance. She also teaches dental students at UBC and continues to learn about the latest research and advancements in orthodontics by being part of professional dental organizations and attending dental conferences. The part of her job that she loves the most is caring for her patients and helping them to have healthy smiles that they love!
