Dr. Jay Philippson grew up in Chemainus and graduated from Chemainus Secondary School. Following graduation he attended UBC for degrees in both Commerce and Dentistry. Dr. Philippson received many awards in dental school including acceptance into Omicron Kappa Upsilon society which recognizes the top students in each dental class.

While in dental school, Dr. Philippson met and married his wife, Ana, who was born in Brasil. From Brasil, she and her family moved to Montreal and ultimately Vancouver. Dr. Philippson and his wife have 3 children: Jacinta, Cassia, and Lucas. Both girls were born before the family moved to Edmonton where Dr. Philippson attended the University of Alberta to take his Orthodontic specialty training. The family moved to Duncan in December of 1993 and Dr. Philippson has been in practice in Duncan since that time.

Dr. Philippson is active in the community as a volunteer and as a supporter of many local and national charities including the Cowichan Sportsplex as a medallion sponsor and Cowichan District hospital. Dr. Philippson is also an avid skier, golfer, fisherman and cyclist.

Certified Orthodontists receive an additional 2 to 3 years of training after Dental School to allow them to most effectively, efficiently and successfully manage even the most complex dental and orthodontic problems.
